With what you believe, if you died today would you go to heaven?
A blunt statement that needs an answer of yes or no. Many today “think” that they are living a life that will inevitably result in them spending eternity in heaven. They consider themselves as “good” people. The Word of God, -the Bible- has a simple test, a standard that one can use to determine an answer to the question, “With what you believe, if you died today would you go to heaven?”
Answer the following questions with honesty:
Have you ever lied?
A small white lie, maybe a whopper of a tall tale, just a simple lie to save someones feelings or a lie get you out of doing something unpleasant.
If so . . . you could call yourself a fabricator, a storyteller or a fibber, but Websters Dictionary describes someone who tells a lie as a; liar.
Have you ever stolen something?
A piece of candy, a bag of cash from the back of an armored truck, maybe you took an extra five minutes for lunch, robbing your employer who was paying you to be at work. Add up five minutes a day for a month and you have stolen more than an hour and a half from your boss.
Have you ever looked at someone with lust -sexual desire- for them?
Jesus said, “Whosoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
If you failed the above test you are seen by God as a liar, thief and an adulterer. The Bible warns that one day -Judgment Day- God will punish you in a terrible place called the Lake of Fire.
Not Heaven, HELL.
And those are just three of the Ten Commandments as found in Exodus Chapter 20.
You shall have no other gods before Me.
(no worshiping self, others, idols like movie stars or political leaders, sports stars, etc.)
You shall not make yourself any graven image.
(Don’t bow to some self proclaimed prophet, a carved stone, or a figurine on an altar / shelf)
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
(cursing the Creator who gives you breath, using your mouth to dishonor God)
Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy.
(don’t neglect the things of God)
Honor your father and your mother.
You shall not kill.
You shall not commit adultery.
(adultery breaks hearts and dishonors yourself)
You shall not steal.
You shall not lie.
You shall not covet.
(don’t want what belongs to others)
You may be thinking to yourself that Christianity is hopeless, it isn’t. God doesn’t want you to go to hell, in fact He loves you so much that he sent His Son to pay the price for you, so you don’t have to spend eternity in hell -not just a few years or a short time- but eternity.
John 3:16,17
“For God so loved the world (you and me) that He gave his only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whosoever believes in him (Jesus) should NOT perish (go to hell), but have everlasting life. (in heaven) For God did not send His Son into the world so that He would condemn the world, but so that the world would be saved through Him.”
On Judgment Day you will NOT be judged by what you have done for others, but by what you believe. Do you believe in Jesus Christ?
Ephesians 2:8
“For by grace you are saved, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
God gave us the gift of His Son out of Grace so we might be saved. It is not something we “earn” it is a gift that we can accept or reject. You can’t earn salvation, otherwise only the rich and boastful would “acquire” heaven.
Romans 10:9
“That if thou shalt confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
No one can pray the prayer, or confess your sins and no one can repent (turn away from) your sins other than you.
Tell God you know you are a sinner, name your sins, ask His forgiveness, turn away from those sins, don’t just be remorseful, repent. Ask for forgiveness, believe in Jesus Christ who died and rose again paying the price for YOU.
Then read your Bible daily, seek to know Him through prayer and study. Have Faith.
Soul Winning Ministries doesn’t know what is in your heart or what you prayed but God does. Seek His favor, Believe in His Son. Then on Judgment Day we will be assured of heaven not hell. Both are real places. We deserve Hell but God’s grace has been given those who have faith in Jesus Christ.
