“His wrath towards you burns like fire. He looks upon you as worthy of nothing else but to be cast into the fire. He is of purer eyes than to bear to have you in His sight. You have offended Him infinitely more than ever a stubborn rebel did his prince; and yet, it is nothing but His hand that holds you from falling into the fire every moment.
O sinner, consider the fearful danger you are in!
It is the great furnace of wrath, a wide and bottomless pit, full of the fire of wrath, that you are held over in the hand of that God whose wrath is provoked and incensed as much against you as against any of the damned in Hell.

You hang by a slender thread, with the flames of divine wrath flashing about it and ready any minute to singe it and burn it asunder; and you have no interest in any Mediator and nothing to lay hold of to save yourself, nothing to keep off the flames of wrath, nothing of your own, nothing that you have done, nothing that you can do, to induce God to spare you one moment.”

Words from a sermon that ring as true today as they did when first spoken by the Revivalist Jonathan Edwards on July 8, 1741.

The point of the message is clear.

Hebrews 2:3
“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation . . . “

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

The answer to the fateful dilemma just as clear.

Acts 4:12
“Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

God gives us Grace, gives us a way, an irrevocable promise in His Word.
God gave us His Son Jesus Christ.

On Judgment Day all must stand before a just God.

Hebrews 9:27
“And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Salvation is a gift freely given to those who have faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God.

The fires of Hell are real as is the glory of Heaven whether you believe in them or not, they are real. You say you can’t believe in something you can’t see.

You can’t see gravity, does that mean if you jump off a building you won’t fall?

Why would you be willing to gamble all eternity on that premise, “If I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.”

Come to Christ, confess your sin, turn away from your sinfulness, have faith in the only One who can save you from the fires of Hell on Judgment Day.
