You say you are a Christian, you say you are a believer, you say. . .
But what is it that you do that shows others you are a Christian?
Christianity is an action religion. Christ walked, talked, prayed, fed, taught, suffered, died, rose again!!
Praise the Lord !!!
Actions, teaching by example on how we as Christians are to lead our lives for Christ.
Faith in Him who died and rose again for us.
Christ who said, “…Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself….”
Do you want to spend eternity in the fires of Hell? NO!
Do you want loved ones to spend eternity in the fires of Hell? NO!
Do you want your neighbor or co-worker to spend eternity in the fires of Hell?
Christ set the example, He asks us to have faith in Him and that faith should be sufficient enough that when we as Christians are faced with those who do not know Christ as their Lord and Savior we must speak out, speak up and share, explain, DO THE WORK, that points others, leads others to faith in Christ.
Salvation is not gained by works, lest only the rich and boastful gain acceptance. Salvation is by faith and that faith is shown to others, to the lost through our obedience to Christ.
Only listening to a sermon each week, and being in the same pew week after week is not a show of faith, it is minimal action to say the least.
Our friendship with the lost, our neighbors is not sharing. Being a good person, a nice person, a friend to others will not show them the way. There are plenty of good, nice, friends in the world today that don’t know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior who will burn in Hell for all of eternity.
James 2: 17, 20, 26
(v17) “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
(v20) “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
(v26) “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
Study the word daily. STOP taking another mans word as the truth. Man is sinful, man is fallible, man is NOT the answer. Many a Church today mix whatever works into their doctrine.
The world wants us to be all inclusive. I do not want to be included in anything but God’s Divine plan for my life and an eternity spent worshiping at my Saviors feet. I desire to do as instructed in the Word of God. Loving the Lord my God with all my heart, all my soul and all my mind.
II Timothy 2:15
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
As we pray and study the Word, as we follow the urgings of the Holy Spirit to share the Gospel our understanding of the Truth will become more evident, our walk of faith will increase. Our faith in Christ will increase and our desire to do God’s will, will become more evident. We will show our faith through the works we do in following Christ’s teachings.
In the early 1800’s the Baptist (save for a small few) did not favor special efforts to promote revivals of religion. Since that would have been an interference with the operation of divine sovereignty, it was considered presumptuous to undertake anything of the kind.
“The salvation of sinners was determined by God’s selective grace and was to be accomplished independently of all human agency…” Dr. Frank G. Beardsley
The strength of the church, therefore, was to SIT STILL.
Had they forgotten,
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”
Have we forgotten?
“Look over your past life . . . How little regard you have had for the Scriptures, to the Word preached, to the Sabbaths and sacraments! What low thoughts you have had of God and what high thoughts of yourselves! Many of you by the bad examples you have set, by corrupting the minds of others, by your sinful conversation, by leading them in sin and by the mischief you have done in human society other ways, have been guilty of these things that have tended to others damnation. If God should forever cast you off and destroy you, it would be agreeable to your treatment of Himself, of Christ, of your neighbors and yourself.”
Jonathon Edwards 1734
“Rise up out of your pews, leave the restrictive confines of the building you call ‘your’ church and seize the everlasting prize”
My prayer for you reading this is that you gain a closer walk with Christ, a walk and talk you share with others.
I John 2:6
“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so walk, even as He walked.”
Jesus and His disciples didn’t sit in the pews.
